Ssh is not FTP, get some ftp client for windows, it will ask your for a username and password, you can use your user to test it. Or use the one that comes with windows, get on Start -> Run and type: ftp yourmachineip

Where do I put my files so that ppl can access my files in linux? How do I get a graphical interface to show so that I can configure it?

Someone please help me? Thanks

when i typed ftp ipaddress, it works, but after awhile it said

"421 Servicenot available, remote server has closed connection"

???

anyone?

your server is presumably not running.

How do I go about fixing this problem?

I havent a luck with all this. Been tryin hard but still the same.

You mean after you let it sit for a little bit it gave you this message.
"421 Servicenot available, remote server has closed connection"
If so, the connection probably just timed out because you let it sit.

on the linux system, the command line, i typed as followed:

ftp 192.168.0.2

after that it tries to connect, then it says 412 blah blah blah....

dont know how to get it work.
