Setting an IPV6 address on boot

I like to set a different IPV6 address from the link-local address.

What is standard way of entering the address? Does /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf take IPV6 addresses or is /etc/rc.d/rc.local my best option? An example would help.

The standard way is to use DHCP. The rc.inet1 script does not have a standard way to support static IPv6 address.

Hi guanx,

From what I understood, the link-local address cleverly replaces the need for DHCP in IPV6. BTW, probably I should add here that I am following a tutorial here, but it only refers to Fedora/RHEL.
