SANE scanner upgrade from v1.0.24 to v1.0.25

so i'm running multilib 14.1

Quote:
kernel :3.10.17
arch : x86_64
I tried to scan w/ my shiny new Canon CanoScan LiDE 220 and found out that it doesn't work....yet. :-(

It is SANE supported http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html

but i ran into this post - that states I'll need the latest SANE drivers of v1.0.25 for it to work.

http://askubuntu.com/questions/51946...canon-lide-220

6 months ago SANE released a source code update and I'd like to get those changes.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to compile / update this new version in the "Slackware way" for my environment ??

Should I create a slackbuild for this update ?

What would I need to add multilib compatibility as well ?

Many thanks in advance!

Is there a slackbuild for the old version? If so, you could just edit in the new version number.

Just grab the source from -current and build it.

Code:
wget -r -nH --no-parent --cut-dirs=5 --reject="index.html*" https://slackbuilds.org/mirror/slackware/slackware64-current/source/xap/sane/
cd sane
su
sh sane.SlackBuild
upgradepkg /tmp/sane-1.0.25*.txz

Source the 32bit environment file that Eric provided (make sure you include the period in front), then set the ARCH variable to i586, run the SlackBuild, convert the package to compat32, and finally install it.

Code:
su
. /etc/profile.d/32dev.sh
ARCH=i586
cd sane
sh sane.Slacbuild
convertpkg-compat32 -i /tmp/sane-1.0.25-i*.txz
upgradepkg --install-new /tmp/sane-1.0.25*compat32.txz
