Question restic backup solution

Trying to build restic for Slackware and running into an issue. I am probably the least familiar with go programming. It seems simple enough, but I'm having a problem compiling this binary.

Using their "installation from source" instructions listed here, specifically this portion:
Code:
$ git clone https://github.com/restic/restic
[...]
$ cd restic
$ go run -mod=vendor build.go
I get the following error:
Code:
flag provided but not defined: -mod
usage: run [build flags] [-exec xprog] gofiles... [arguments...]
Run 'go help run' for details.
If I try it without the -mod=vendor section since I believe -current is at version go version go1.10.3 gccgo (GCC) 8.3.0 linux/amd64, I get the following error:
Code:
Run 'go help build' for details.
build failed: exit status 2
exit status 1
Based on their instructions, this should be pretty straight forward. So, I'm not sure what I'm missing. If any other fellow Slacker would like to see if they can get this to build, it would be greatly appreciated!! Seems like a pretty solid backup solutions.

Thanks!

So I will mark this thread as solved. The project already offers a pre-compiled binary which I guess will work for now. However, for the sake of testing, I used version 0.9.2 instead of git. I was able to get more errors.
Code:
go build: when using gccgo toolchain, please pass compiler flags using -gccgoflags, not -gcflags
Looking through -current's gcc.SlackBuild, I don't see where either flag is specified.
