Removing 2.4 kernel

I would like to remove all the data from the 2.4 kernel and replace it with 2.6. What do I have to delete to fully remove 2.4? also what do I need to do to make sure the 2.6 source, headers and modules are in the right spot?

Thanks!

take a look at the readme/warning over here:

ftp://ftp.oregonstate.edu/pub/slackw.../linux-2.6.13/

i would suggest NOT removing your 2.4 packages until you've worked out any kinks with your 2.6 setup... you can configure lilo to ask you which kernel you would like to boot with, for example...

you will want to PAY ATTENTION to this Warning Specifically!
Quote:
As a general rule, installing kernel headers
that are newer than the kernel glibc was compiled with *may* cause problems,
so unless you need these for a particular reason it's best to stick with the
2.4.x kernel-headers package for now.
