reinstall CUPS [SOLVED]
New to slack. Somewhat familiar with MDK KDE control center.
tried to install printer thru KDE. Error message " could not connect to server".
Checked to see if Cups was installed - yes
Thought I'd reinstall cups. Used KDE Kpackage to uninstall cups -OK
Now trying to reinstall - used installpkg cups-1."blah".tgz
error returns package does not end in .tgz ...hmmm yes it does.
googled, but something about gzip only reads to logical end of the file, but when I go to link, can't find the rest of the story.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Thanks - reinstalled cups w/Kpackage. Removed lprng package as per several sites suggest.CUPS is running.
Kprinting manager detects epsonC60 - go thru wizard -OK, C60 is listed in printers.
Print test page -nothing. Usually in jobs tab there is a process waiting, but here nothing.
Any help?
Thanks

Not sure but I think I needed the gimp-print pckg and also during setup, I tried to setup the network using my domain name on the other PCs. When using CUPS administrator, error message, could not find "mylan" so renamed localhost and epson now prints fine.
Don't know which change made the difference.
