Slackware 14.1-32.

I had file lq01.txt in a subdirectory of /root and rm'd it with
Code:
rm lq*
. Any known way to recover it?

Slackware 14.1-32.

I had file lq01.txt in a subdirectory of /root and rm'd it with
Code:
rm lq*
. There are several tools out there able to undelete
removed files, though I do notknow any. Any slackbuilds tool provided
for the job?

EDIT: as a first measure I dumped the whole partition into another one. Here
a minor obstacle I stumbled on: for the dump I had to use /dev/sda7. But
there's no /dev/sda7 on this box (slackware 14.1-32 just almost installed).
I remember the creation of a new device is a really trivial thing (to linux
commands at most). But have quite forgotten the details. So I'll kill two
birds with one stone, and ask how that is done as a second question.

If you use a journaled filesystem, some of them like JFS and BtrFS use copy-on-write which creates shadow copies which can be used for file recovery. Which file system is your /(root) directory installed with?

You created ANOTHER thread for the same question yesterday, which already got some responses. I fail to see the reason for this second thread with slightly different phrasing. Pointless.

Which filesystem is used on the mentioned partition?

Maybe the following tool is working: http://www.cgsecurity.org/
