raid1 system swap

I have a slackware 12.2 file server, pentium 4, 2.80GHz, wherein 2 drives are setup in software raid1.
Hopefully, this week I will upgrade to a slightly better system. Being a Supermicro server with core2duo 1.86GHz and more ram.

How do i move these 2 drives as raid1 to the new system without losing data ?

best regards

S

At first, make a backup (which you should already have anyways). Then just put the drive in the new machine, if it doesn't lack any necessary drivers it should boot and find the RAID.

The array is used for data only.
I will not be using the raid array to boot and the boot device in the old system will most probably stay there.

grtz

If your new system has mdadm installed it should detect the RAID out of the box.
