qt-gtk on slackware 13

Hello all,
few issues with slack 13

Does anybody know how to install qt-gtk-engine on slack 13 ?
I've tried slackbuild, compiling from source
but the last version as some compilation problem

also,
I've got wifi working on slack at my home
but when I'm at school I don't see their wireless network
what can it be ?

if when I'm in X I press Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, it closes X as It should
but then I can get X to work again! I need to restart the computer in order for it to work
what can it be ?

is there a way to automatically insert openoffice to the kde4 menu ?
I installed it and it works fine. but not on the menu

thanx !
Eli

Hi Eli,

I've got gtk-qt installed without issues although you need some of the gnome stuff like bonobo(ui) ( available via GSB for eg. http://groups.google.co.uk/group/gsb...1fa20e4e?hl=en ) - this is the 64-bit version ...

Your wifi question has too little info to answer - what wifi chipset? what encryption? got the correct key?

Installing Robby Workman's package or using his slackbuild script works fine for me with the proper menu entries.

Regards, Robby

your link goes to a gnome build,
do I need to install gnome in order for it to work ?
it worked before without it (on slack 12)

I have an intel wifi chip, and the key is irrelevant as I can't even see
my school's network. I can see it with windows and ubuntu on the same computer

This worked for me. No additional dependencies needed.

I faced a lot of problems with gtk-qt-egine, I just use Qtcurve engine. If gtk-qt-engine is installed I noticed that my firefox doesn't shutdown properly,i.e. even after quitting it [File->Quit] firefox-bin process stay active and consumes a lot of CPU and RAM. hs anyone else noticed this? Not sure why this happens, but after removing gtk-qt-engine and installing Qtcurve, i just use gtk-chtheme to change the appearance of gtk apps.

If you routinely connect to different networks you may want to use wicd. It is available in the extra directory on any Slackware mirror or on your install CDs / DVD.
If you decide to use wicd you will likely want to restore /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf to it's unaltered, pristine state. See this:

I've noticed this myself as well, both under Slackware 13 and Slackware64 13. I'll have to try your suggestion for the time being until the issue is resolved.
