So if I follow you, you never installpkg the
2.6.17.13 kernel package ?

Maybe that's why there are some errors when you
attempt to load the modules installed with the
kernel-modules package. They are compiled for
the corresponding kernel package.

You should installpkg the 2.6.17.13 kernel package,
then follow the instruction in /boot/README.initrd
to add any driver (SCSI, ext3, reiserfs) that
are not built in the kernel
