Question Problem with Slim

Hello Everyone,

I have installed slim. I made it from sbo package. I want to have slim startup up at login. I see that it states that i need to edit the rc.4 file but there is no /etc/rc.d/rc.4 file. There is an rc.0 and rc.6 but nothing from rc.1 - rc.5. Where do i get the files from?

BTW: I'm running Slackware 14.1.

There are no rc.1-rc.3 and rc.5 files in /etc/rc.d but rc.4 should be there. See here: http://www.slackware.com/config/init.php

if you change /etc/inittab from 3 to 4 (e.g. id:3:sysinit:/etc/rc.d/rc.S to id:4:sysinit:/etc/rc.d/rc.S) do you get KDM for login prompt?

Hello Everyone,

Don't know why but there was no rc.4 in /etc/rc.d. And no i don't the kdm login. All i got was Init X11 spawning to fast please wait 5 minutes error. To fix this i copied the rc.4 from online to /etc/rc.d. Now it's working thx.

Sounds like you didn't do a full install? rc.4 should've been included with sysvinit-scripts-2.0-noarch-17.txz located under the a/ series.
