Problem with gcalcli

I have followed the instructions in this mesage & have searched for a later library version but am stuck at the moment.

This is the message from trying to run the Google Calendar Command Line Interface (gcalcli)..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
bash-4.3$ gcalcli

File "/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/apiclient/__init__.py", line 11, in <module>

RuntimeError: Previous version of google-api-python-client detected; due to a packaging issue, we cannot perform an in-place upgrade. To repair, remove and reinstall this package, along with oauth2client and uritemplate. One can do this with pip via
pip install -I google-api-python-client
bash-4.3$

I am running Slackware 14.2 64bit. The answer is probable glaringly obvious but if someone could point me to getting this sorted I'd be very grateful.

My plans are to have the Agenda into Conky on my desktop.

Am waiting until KDE Plasma 5 is a simple upgrade job, or even for Slack 15 as a lot of the KDE Store widgets, etc. now require Plasma 5.

Thanks for everything so far.

https://slackbuilds.org/repository/1...rch=google-api
https://slackbuilds.org/repository/1...ython-gcalcli/

How'd you install the previous version of google-api-python-client?

It is easy to install Plasma 5 now if you use slackpkg+
http://bear.alienbase.nl/mirrors/ali.../14.2/5/README

slackpkg remove KDE
slackpkg install ktown

'gcalcli' now on hold......

Am now putting 'gcalcli' & Plasma 5 plans on hold as a look around the SlackBuilds repo revealed to me that Slack 14.2 64 has MATE & Cinnamon available as DE's.

I do like the idea of Desklets & Screenlets.

Have dl'ed MATE & Cinnamon ready for a test install tomorrow-ish.

I love Slackware as it really is a never-ending journey for those of us who are retired and plenty of time on our hands.

It's our very own Green Mile !!!
