Problem with 2.6.12.5

Hi, i have 2.4.29 kernel, but i wanna update to 2.6.12.5 and i downloaded source code from kernel.org, unziped and i went like this
Code:
cd /usr/src
Code:
tar -xzf linux-2.6.12-5.tar.gz
Code:
rm -rf linux
i made then symlink LINUX
Code:
cd linux
Code:
cp /boot/config-ide-2.4.29 /usr/src/linux
Code:
make mrproper
Code:
make menuconfig
i loaded 2.4.29 config and added some functions .. few modules ...
saved as alternate file config-Mr-Sale
Code:
make
Code:
make modules_install
Code:
cp System.map /boot/System.map
Code:
cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/kernel-2.6.12-5
Code:
cp config-sale /boot/config-2.6.12-5
Code:
cd /boot/
Code:
lilo
Code:
Added 2.6.12 *
Code:
Added 2.4.29
Code:
reboot
then i get to lilo, and i choose 2.6.12
and i get
Code:
Loading 2.6.12 or something like that .............................................................................
Code:
BIOS DATA CHEK SUCCESFUL (or something like that...)
and then...BLANK black screen nothing else...
i also tried few versions of this, but i installed kernel last time and i tried with MAKE INSTALL and LILO and rebooting and it was the same, could it be cuz i moded my makefile to EXTRAVERSION= .-5-Mr-Sale ???

I would think of a framebuffer problem, try to set vga=normal in lilo.conf
and re-run lilo, then attempt to boot in your 2.6 kernel
