Problem running Audacity 2.1.2
I'm running a full install of Slackware64 14.2 pure 64 bit.
My Audacity 2.1.1 was failing to start with a Segmentation Fault. Since there is a new 2.1.2 version I thought it would be better to rebuild this version and all would be well.
So I've built Audacity 2.1.2 from SBo (having had to build also wxGTK3).
Now when I try to run Audacity I still get a similar crash. It appears to me that it is not being able to communicate with ALSA... This is what I get:

Trace/breakpoint trap
The errors in version 2.1.1 were basically the same, so this seems to be a runtime problem connecting to ALSA. Has anyone come across this? Is it because of pulseaudio?

maybe you're not aware of this but that's probably not true, because this error

should mean that you are missing at least the alsa-plugins package.

mmm... I find that strange as I am sure I installed the full version and don't remember removing any alsa package (but who knows? things can happen). So here is some investigating:

It looks like I have the alsa-plugins package. Why should audacity fail to load this library? Anyway, I will reinstall alsa-plugins and see what happens.

Well, I reinstalled all the alsa packages and now audacity works. Not really sure what was missing or wrong...

Even stranger, audacity did work after reinstalling the alsa packages as mentioned earlier. But after I closed it and try to open it again, I then get the original error once more:

it can be also you got some hardware issue: you can check the RAM with
memtest86+ (see the README.SLACKWARE file in the link for hints) or the disk with the
smartmontools .
if you have a custom ~/.asoundrc try also moving it away temporarily and see if something changes.
