Problem about sound card

Hi all
OK, I've finally installed Slackware 10.00, and boot it. Wow!
But why my sound card doesn't work properly? I have an onboard sound card, Creative CT 5880, on a Gigabyte 7ZX motherboard.
When I boot my PC with a Slax live CD, I can hear voice clearly. But with Slackware, I just can hear some noises.
How can I install my sound card correctly?

# alsaconf
# alsamixer (unmute your sound card)
# alsactl store

I got my sound card working easily enough, but the only problem I have is that I can never get this thing to play Midis, not that anybody wants to hear Midis, but it's still nice to have everything fully functional. MP3s and most videos play fine. Even audio CDs and DVDs play.

Which music player are you using? Maybe mplayer has midi support.
