Print driver for samsung ML-1670

This is for Slackware 15.0 64 bit.

Im tryig to get an ML-1670 working. I used cups to install the printer, its an old model and I can not find a working driver.

In addition to the the Samsug drivers includedin 15.0, I instlled the Splix package from SBo. There is no driver for the 1670.

Search with DuckDuckgo and found hits saying use the ML-1660 driver. That allows rhe printer to print out an error message. It says:

Internal ERROR: Please use the proper Driver
System : h6fw_5.49/xl/op
Line: 180
Version:SPL 5.49 10-20-2010

Any thoughts on other things to try?

BTW, I coulf not find anything useful on Samsungs web site. Not even a mention of any driver for this printer.

According to the Open Printing - Samsung ML-1670 Page, you've got lots of options

But maybe the best .PPD file, based on utility and speed is the hpijs-pcl5e

Maybe the ML-1650 .PPD File will work better than the ML-1660 Driver you tried ?

The hpijs-pci5e does not work, and I tried the 1650's as well, none work.
Thank-you for your suggestions though.

I will keep trying.

Shucks camorri.

I have a Customer with an older Samsung ML-1650

But now that I look at the PPD in their /etc/cups/ppd/ Directory, they're currently using the Generic PXLMONO.PPD File and we set it up via the cups http://localhost:631/admin interface.

Sorry about the confusion.
