peer-to-peer IM for Linux

Hi all

I am a newbie running Slackware10.2. I am connected with my three other friends (running WinXP) via small home LAN(without Internet). I communicate with them when using XP via programs like "Lanchat" & "NetMeeting". The advantage is that all these programs are peer-to-peer based so we don't have to bother about being connected to any server.

So I am looking for an alternative in Linux. I have heard about "GnomeMeeting" but that is Gnome based and Slackware-10.2 doesn't come with Gnome. I would be very grateful if anyone can suggest something that will run on KDE.

Thanks

Searching on Google, there appears to be a Linux version of LANChat, so I would just use that...

Don't let that stop you. Just install Freerock GNOME.

http://gsb.freerock.org/

Also, I've noticed a Slackware 10.2 GnomeMeeting package on linuxpackages.net.

And why would being in X stop you from running console based programs?
