Patrick's Fine - Stop Worrying :)

I emailed the guys to see how Patrick is doing since we haven't heard anything since the changelog back in February.

This is what they had to say.

This is the actual email minus my personal address etc..

Hi Mike,

Pat is doing fine now and working on the next release –

Thank you

Theresa

Subject: How is Patrick doing? We haven't heard anything since February

There are a lot of people concerned about the future of Slackware.

Best of luck Patrick!!

I really hated to bother them but all that talk of him dying or retiring is really depressing.

I hope this brings hope to those in doubt. They say he's doing great. I hope this helps us to all stop worrying so much so that we can spend more time enjoying the great things that he has done already and the things to come.

Slackware is here to stay...........And Da Man is doing Fine

I've felt exactly the opposite in last months. Pat was very active and updates were frequent, especially in the current branch. There were some serious changes, like implementation of NPTL support into glibc, too.

God bless Patrick !

Great.

That's the attitude we should all have.

I only posted that because I noticed a few posts regarding is health and also a post questioning the future of Slackware. They are legitimate questions but I think we can put them to rest.

Be optimistic and keep on Slack'n

Why? We are not a deity fanclub, but users of a Linux distribution that just happens to have a lot of Slack-nature. As you should know Slack-nature is in all people .

Would you like it if others threw your personal live on the net? Cut the guy some slack (no pun intended).

What are you talking about? Of course, we are a fan club.
Pat V is, after all, the benevolent dictator for life of Slackware.
Seriously, though: I think it is very reasonable to keep succession in mind. Linus seems to be in good health, too, but it is not unusual to discuss who will take over when the time comes.
