Opera Slackbuild builds & installs, but opera won't launch

Greetings
My apologies if I'm being stupid but I've been up for about 30 hours straight dealing with multiple weird issues, the worst of which is my Main (which ran beautifully while up) had some oddball hardware issue with CMOS where it keeps resetting on 4F with 2 successive beep codes of 3 beeps but memory tests fine, and almost 2 days ago it finally failed to recover and will not complete POST.

So until I can fix or replace it <sigh> I'm reviving an ancient Asus A8NE w/ an AMD FX57 single core w/ 2GB RAM. Yup it's a tad painful. Thankfully I already had x64-14.2 on it and it didn't take long to go Multilib (thank you, Eric, again and again as usual).

Most stuff runs surprisingly well though I had to increase swap space a lot... I mean a LOT. I went from ~300MB (which used to be plenty) to 4GB !!! 8^0 !!! Weird, but mainly due to Firefox... what a RAM HOG!

Anyway so I downloaded Opera which I've come to like lately and which ran fin on my main 14.2 Mutilib system but when I launch Opera here on this machine I get this:

Code:
bash-4.3$ opera
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/fonts.conf", line 102: unknown element "blank"
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.avail/66-wqy-zenhei-sharp-no13px.conf", line 11: Having multiple values in <test> isn't supported and may not work as expected
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.avail/66-wqy-zenhei-sharp.conf", line 10: Having multiple values in <test> isn't supported and may not work as expected
[10687:10687:0625/163226.327577:ERROR:chrome_browser_main.cc(1101)] NSS_VersionCheck("3.26") failed. NSS >= 3.26 is required. Please upgrade to the latest NSS, and if you still get this error, contact your distribution maintainer.
I reinstalled wqy-zenhei and ran
Code:
 fc-cache -fv
...but still no cigar.

Probably it's just caffeine and lack of sleep but what am I missing (and kinda... why did it work great on my Main?) Most importantly it may be month(s) before my Main is back online so what can I do to solve this issue?

Your showstopper there is NSS...

On -current that's currently mozilla-nss-3.44.1-x86_64-1

That still works for me for a Vivaldi binary, so it's probably OK for that too. Another thing to consider, is if you have another version in the linker path.

P.S. I see you're on 14.2, so you'll probably have to compile a newer mozilla-nss package. Shouldn't be a big deal.

TYVM TheRealGrogan... oddly I still get the same error message regarding wqy-zenhai but Opera launches and runs just fine. Sleep....soon.. I hope.

I know the feeling, when something is wrong with the main rig, it's like your whole life is in crisis :-)

(I can't rest until it's solved)

Those fontconfig warnings probably aren't anything that will affect your browser, that zenhei is probably some weird assed font you don't use, I'd guess. Those may have been inconsistencies that passed without complaint before, but Opera (Chromium) may actually have it's own overrides. I remember one time when I used to build Chromium, it wasn't honoring my fontconfig settings.

Unless you're in the habit of reading Chinese (or Japanese cq Korean) I would remove the zenhai font altogether:
Quote:
The WenQuanYi Zen Hei font is a Chinese (or CJK) outline font
so it is only needed by Chrome to render pages in Chinese, Japanese OR Korean correctly.

You should (if you didn't already) update your mozilla-nss package though, the newest one in 14.2 is version 3.40.1, which is much newer than the >= 3.26 version chrome requires (according to your quoted error msg). The upgraded package will contain a newer nspr (version 4.20) too.
