nvidia driver upgrade question


i have a older nvidia card and i am getting a newer one this weekend and i am currently useing one of nvidias legecy drivers i was wondering if there is anything special i have to to to upgrade to there newest driver? do i just dl there newest driver and run the install script?

Make sure you have both the new driver and the legacy driver (in case you want to go back). Save a copy of the /etc/X11/xorg.conf in case it gets damaged.

Shutdown, remove the old card, install the new card. Boot to single user mode and run the new driver installer. Reboot and you should be good to go.

If you need to go back to the old card, repeat the steps but run the legacy driver installer.
