No sound in firefox 31.2 ESR for web movies

In firefox 31.2 ESR I get no sound when playing web movies .wbm files like http://video.webmfiles.org/big-buck-bunny_trailer.webm

The picture is OK.

I get sound from BBC iplayer and from youtube.

Have I missed something I need to tweak?

You need all of the gstreamer-plugins packages.
Slackware only comes with "base" and "good".

I suspect that the video you gave as an example uses the vorbis audio plugin as it was done by the Blender Foundation. This plugin is already available in Slackware in gst-plugins-base package.

If you have 2 soundcards, this thread might be of interest to you: firefox and asoundrc no html5 audio

Sound now sorted in html5 and still got sound on BBC iplayer

Well, ended up doing two things

First built the packages -

gst1-plugins-bad-1.4.1-i486-1_SBo.tgz
gst1-plugins-base-1.2.2-i486-1_SBo.tgz
gst1-plugins-base-1.4.1-i486-1_SBo.tgz
gst1-plugins-good-1.4.1-i486-1_SBo.tgz
gst1-plugins-ugly-1.4.1-i486-1_SBo.tgz
gst-plugins-bad-0.10.23-i486-3_SBo.tgz
gst-plugins-ugly-0.10.19-i486-2_SBo.tgz
gstreamer1-1.2.2-i486-1_SBo.tgz
gstreamer1-1.4.1-i486-1_SBo.tgz

also had to change my .asoundrc from

Code:
pcm.!default {
type hw
card 1
}

ctl.!default {
type hw
card 1
}

to

Code:
defaults.pcm.card 1
defaults.pcm.device 0
defaults.ctl.card 1

Thanks gegechris99 and schmatzler for pointing me in the right direction.
