New HD installation, complete OS transfer?

Heyall...
I first installed my slackie on a 10 gigs HD, but since I find slack VERY sweet I decided to make it my first OS and got myself a a new 120gb HD.
I was wondering about transfering (a simple "cp") the whole thing on my new hd, but then I thought that it might not work since the virtual file systems might not be copied correctlyl (see /proc, for example...)...
Any hints? Did any of you perform this operation before?
I know it would be easier to just install from scratch on the ne HD, but this just tickles up my brains, since I like difficult operations
I already succeded in transfering whole sections of the OS (/usr, /home, /boot etc...) from partition to partition, but never did anything like transfering the WHOLE load

I'm sure there are other ways, but for cloning harddrives I use mkcdrec. It allows you to create a bootable CD and a set of disaster recovery CD's which contain your entire OS. It also includes a script to copy the entire contents of one HD to the other. I used it to clone my HD after buying a new one and the entire process went smoothly.

Hey, thanx for the heads up on mkcdrec, djbanaan. After going to that site it sounds like what Norton Ghost does for the Windows platform, create backup images, or clone partitions, from disk to disk.
