Network "Roaming"???

I asked this question as a subset of another question earlier this week, so I apologize for the repeat...

One of the biggest headaches to me is that my laptop won't automatically connect and run dhcpcd when I connect to a wireless or wired network. I'm constantly running "rc.inet1 restart" to connect at a new location. This is especially painful when I need to modify my rc.wireless.conf file for a new wireless location. Is there a way to make this automatic (I set up the profiles and do nothing else)?

Thanks!
