Network config (10.1) (win 98) n00b question
I have a few questions regarding Slackware 10.1.
I've managed to get quite a bit done already, and earlier today I was dancing with glee after finding out how to configure X.
Being the Intuitive individual I am, I figured that the command would be changed - but not that it wouldn't even be mentioned in the install. Luckily, a friendly post pointed me to xorgconfig.
My first question for you wonderful, happy, eager, n00b helpers is this:
I still need to figure out how to configure my network, and I assume that can be done in the install process (if I really HAVE to reinstall everything I wouldn't mind wasting the 4 hours or so - my Craptop needs the exercise).
However, configuring my network would be in vain if I were to randomly guess the values I would need to input. I need to know where in Windows I could search (Craptop is running win98, this computer also on the network [it's the master computer of the network, and I can probably figure out the info from it too] is win xp) to find all those values. Having switched from cable to DSL and having everything done automatically, I'm not quite sure what's needed to connect my Linux 'top to the network (and thus, the intarweb).
Also, while I'm at it, how do I change X to load gnome instead of KDE? I'll probably figure it out by the time someone responds, but just in case...
and hopefully, I'll be able to continue this conversation through linux later.
Will I be able to change the thread title? or should I start a new post?
