help my friend is on the way
I think that you can setup a boot script or some lines to setup your wlan0 at boot time. You should read the man pages for ifconfig, iwpriv, iwconfig and related commands. My wireless card isn't setup right this instant, I just switched back from FreeBSD recently. These lines might work for you, if they don't see the man pages for ifconfig, iwconfig, etc.. Something like this.
try:
#double qoutes needed
#keyword any is needed
#WARNING these lines don't set the network key, so people can jack your wlan, read man pages for those commands
echo " iwconfig [name_of_wireless_device] [essid] key [encryption_key_in_hex] any " >> /etc/rc.d/rc.local
echo "iconfig [name_of_wireless_device] up" >> /etc/rc.d/rc.local
Check the wlan how-to in your '/usr/share/doc/Linux-HOWTOs/' or on tldp.org if you don't have HOWTOs installed. I think that your not all that new to Unix, Solaris- the stable unfriendly beast I'v heard.
