Need Help With Hard Drive
i know this isn't a specific slackware question but i just felt like i could get some help here, i have a 8 gig hard drive on a box and yesterday i was using gnome and my box just froze (this was after putting a new NIC on the board) and when the box froze the activity light on the HD had been on for a very long time, so i just powered it off manually. i was running slack 10 at that time. so when the box rebooted with messages it ran fsck on the root partition and got stuck at 54%, but i just left it there for a couple of hours. feeling i needed to just reload slack from scratch, i ran the setup created new partitions with cfdisk and ran the setup from the slack disk. that's where the problem comes, i've done this loads of time now and everytime its formatting the swap partition it just freezes. i had a fedora core 3 cd and i tried running the setup through that and it froze up too during installing packages to the hard drive. so i tried running the evil win2k setup and that froze during the hardware detection. is my hard drive SOL or can i just get it fixed. how do i get it fixed if there's a way round this.
thanks for any replies.
TIA
