need help building kernel 2.6.3

Hi all:

I am using slackware 9.1 and trying to build kernel 2.6.3.

After typing in make xconfig and choosing all the require options I type bzImage but greet with the following error:

make[1]: *** No rule to make target 'arch/i386/kernel/entry.o'. need by 'arch/i386/kernel/built-in.o' Stop.
make: *** [arch/i386/kernel] Error 2

Do any of you know why is this the case, am I missing something?

Thanks,
Herman

The command is "make bzImage" unless you forgot to type it in your post this should be the problem.
Another problem could be some development tools such as gcc, make or something else are missing.
Ciao

yes, I did make bzImage

Hi:

Thanks for the quick reply, I did type make bzImage.

I did compile kernel 2.6.0 successfully, but when I try to compile kernel 2.6.3, it gave me the error mentioned above.

Does the stock slackware 9.1 distribution contains all the requirement to build kernel 2.6.3?

Thanks,
Herman

yes, slack 9.1 comes with everything necessary. (full install)
Are you working on 2.6.3 full sources or did you patched them from a previous release?
