Has anyone been able to get this combo to work? I am using the kernel from the Slack 10 testing folder. Not sur if that's the problem. I was able to get it to work fine with the delivered 2.4 kernel, but no luck with 2.6. Anybody have any luck?
Yep, it just works fine.
Are you sure you've got the right driver.
What exactly isn't working?
Is your card recognized with ndiswrapper -l ?
What about iwconfig ?
I wasn't even getting that far. After I installed it under the 2.4 kernel, I then loaded the 2.6 kernel and tried to install it again. I was getting some "no such file or directory" or something like that when I tried. It's not a biggie as I'm trying the Linuxant product for my free 30 days
When you installed the 2.6 kernel, did you install the 2.6 source code? You're gonna see errors if your running a 2.6 kernel but try to compile against 2.4 source code. If you have a chance, post the full error you're getting.
I can only tell you what I did: After a fresh install of Slackware10.0, I installed only the packages in the </testing/packages/linux-2.6.7> except for the 'kernel headers.tgz', using the #pkgtool command. Then I did exactly, again I say "exactly" what it says in the README.initrd file. Then I rebooted and everything did fine. Next I downloaded the Broadcom Driver from this site, http://www.albany.edu/~hudson/broadcom.tar.gz., and I downloaded the Ndiswrapper-0.10 and followed the install instructions that came with it. The driver I had to install with it to use was this one, 'bcmwl5a.inf'. And I just followed the instructions to set up the wlan0 that came with the ndiswrapper. And unbelievably everything works fine. This is just what I did to get my integrated Broadcom wireless card to work on my Compaq Presario 2596US Laptop. Surely if you have the right driver it should work with your card also. Surely???. But what do I know? I'm just a Slackware Noob with a Laptop. Hope this helps. Hope the link to the Broadcom driver worked??
link works fine just drop the ".," I hope this works for me I have been looking for this driver . Im running new averatec 3225 laptop just installed dual boot with xp pro and fedora 2 only thing not working is wireless . I think this will fix it... Thanks Rich
