My Subscription discs arrived today, but ...

... I seem to have the worst luck in having the case for the 6-CD set to arrive and NOT have some of the CD tabs be broken.

I took the shrink-wrap off, opened it up, and Disc 3 fell out. It won't stay in because the retaining tabs are cracked off. Disc 4 is also loose.

I think that last CD set I received in good condition was 11.

Just curious if others out there have issues with the CD cases breaking in shipment.

I did mention it to the folks at the 'store' when I got my 13.0 CD's and they took the time to mail me a brand new case, no charge! That was very nice of them, but I'm not going to bother them again over it. I don't think it's their fault!

My subscription CD set came yesterday (Wednesday), no broken tabs, the CDs more or less stay in as well as with any of the 6-CD holders before (which isn't very good; some are too tight and some too loose). These never worked that well... I think it is time to move to DVDs (and I don't get why 1 double-sided DVD costs more than 6 CDs).

Mine arrived fine.

I have not had broken tabs, but my experience with multi-disc boxes in general, whether music, movies, or software, has not been good. Generally, after the first use, at least one of the discs will no longer stay in place.

I think manufacturers skimp on the boxes.

In older releases before I got a dvd, all '6 cd packages' had issues, stuck CDs, broken tabs and other things. I strongly suspect it is due to the manufacturer of the cd packages. I would usually toss the package and put the CDs in one of those cd booklets.

John

PS, got the dvd today also

How long do things generally take to arrive?

I ordered one of the new Slack 14 tee-shirts a few days ago (so not long enough to get to the UK yet).

I was just wondering how long its taken for other Slackers in the UK to get their stuff?

Still waiting here. But there's been a delay due to a credit card mix-up, so mine might be arriving later than normal for the UK. Can't remember how long it took to get 13.37.

I am in Germany and it took a little more than a month for the T-shirts to arrive. And I am still waiting for the subscription DVD

That is a problem with Slackware. It takes a while to grow into it.

LOL. I guess I need to start either going to a gym or ordering a pizza every night.

It took my shirts between two and three weeks to arrive.

This was the quickest after the release date that I have received my subscription software. They arrived on Tuesday and release was announced 2012-09-28 (I just checked).

I asked at the 'store' if they would consider re-packaging the CD set in a Printed binder...

Something like this:

http://www.motivators.com/Promotiona...lder-8294.html

Imagine it with the Slackware 14.0 Mayan Logo on it.

I WOULD PAY $10 MORE for that if it was sold through the Slackware Store!! It would sure help Pat's finances!

Is there enough interest with us Slackers to make it happen?

PS: I finally have BOTH CD and DVD subscriptions. (They were delivered in TWO mailing boxes.) I figure that if I have the extra income, I'll make sure Pat and the folks at the store get it. Share the wealth!
