mplayer/libdvdcss does not play DVDs
After instaling the mplayer and libdvd packages from linuxpackages.net, I am finding that mplayer is refusing to use my DVD drive. If I run it from a shell, and attempt to access a film, it provides these error messages:
Playing dvd://1.
libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.8 for DVD access
libdvdread: Could not open /dev/hdc with libdvdcss.
libdvdread: Can't open /dev/hdc for reading
Couldn't open DVD device: /dev/hdc
I have been searching around and have not managed to find a solution to this problem. This is my dvd drive's fstab entry:
/dev/dvd /mnt/cdrom iso9660 udf,noauto,users,owner,ro 0 0
Mplayer can access the drive if I mount it, but libdvdcss cannot, so it will not play encrypted DVDs. Besides, I read somewhere that the drive does not to need to be mounted to enable cd play back. What could I possibly be doing wrong here?
Thanks in advance.
