mp3 downloading
I am able to play this mp3 stream with mplayer...it's an mms file. Mplayer can record it in real time as a wav and then lame converts it to an mp3. It's probably an hour long lecture that would only take 5 minutes to download if I could find the location. How could I download this mp3 quickly without listening to it?

since the server is broadcasting it as a stream there is no actual .mp3 file they have given access to D/L. Your only option is to capture like you have been doing.

Streamripper, perhaps?
Note that laws on recording streamed contrent vary between countries - and you may want to check if the provider allows it.

I cannot get streamripper to work except on URLs that start with http. The mp3s I'd like to download start with mms-can you download this as an mp3:
