Mouse wheel doesn't scroll in X - what setting in xorg.conf?

Hello,

I'm having a problem with my mouse wheel, it won't scroll in any applications, I've tried in KDE and fluxbox.

The wheel 'button' works for copy/pasting but won't scroll, does anyone know what mouse setting to use in xorg.conf to fix this?

I have a logitech mx300 USB optical mouse, basically 2 buttons and the wheel.

I have pasted my mouse section in xorg.conf for reference:

Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"

The wheel used to work in fedora, if I can get it working now I can finally cast aside all thoughts of that bloated distro and forever embrace Slackware!

Thanks,

Jason

From my Slack-current /etc/x11/xorg.conf file:

Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

Add that somewhere around your other mouse settings. Basically, your mouse scrollwheel acts like 2 different buttons, and this activates them. Naturally, you'll have to restart X (or reboot, if you're not sure how to do this).

Have Fun!
