mouse stops working


i've just installed 32bit slackware on my new 64bit pc, 1gb ram, 3.2ghz, 2x250 hdd. After i startx about 5 mins after my usb mouse stops working, it doesn't move at all.

Try ctrl+alt+f6, login as root, run killall X, then startx and check if your mouse works again.

So after mouse stops working check if gpm is still running with $ps aux or $top command.
