Tonight I will be finishing my upgrade cycle to 13.1 and I am a very happy man! Slackware 13.1 is First Rate.
I think it is very important that we support Patrick Volkerding so that he can continue to deliver our favourite OS to us. Slackware is PV's source of income.
I just made a donation to Slackware using paypal (see the donate link in my signature), it works flawlessly. Please donate whatever you can: Make a donation using paypal, buy the CDs/DVD, buy a Slackware subscription, or pick up some merchandise at the Slackware store.
Many thanks to Patrick Volkerding, Eric Hameleers, Robby Workman, and the entire Slackware team for another stellar release of Slackware.
I don't need the CDs/DVD because I use the torrents provided at slackware.com, but, I think it is important that we all contribute to Slackware in some way. Please donate whatever you can afford. I'm strapped for cash atm (lots of bills) but I donated with paypal. I encourage all of you to donate to Slackware.
Just finished my upgrade cycle to 13.1....it is all good.
HAHA! I share the same sentiment! I would really like a T-shirt or two, but I would REALLY like to see Pat continue with Slackware until he is at least as old as I am!
So, given limited funds, a simple donation would seem preferable to buying a T-shirt which he will get $1 from...
I let my subscription lapse several years ago when I moved cross-country. Instead, I switched to the torrents/donation method. Note that there's two ways to donate at store.slackware.com - the yellow Donate button goes through Paypal, or find "Donation to the Slackware Project" under Products-->All. The second method lets you checkout through the regular store shopping cart system if you don't want to use Paypal.
I have wondered if not buying the physical media causes problems for the store though. I don't know how they gauge how many copies to get manufactured, but I'd hate to think they end up with a bunch of unsold product because of the torrent users. Anyone ever asked Theresa about that?

I wonder when was that added. I remember i had asked from Pat for such an option a while back cause i usually have some funds in my paypal account.
Too bad i spent all of them last week. Oh well, its bound to fill up again soon.
It would also be very convenient if payments for subscriptions were made using paypal instead of directly with the credit card. Ive already had to contact once when i changed the last one. I'll have to contact the store for that i guess.
Also noticed there no word on 13.1 yet, even as pre order like there was available with 13.0.

I downloaded my media through the torrents (CDs/DVD), but, I did make a donation at the store through paypal. I guess the plus side here is that Pat doesn't need to use his time to handle/ship the product to me. If we all give some money to Slackware we will ensure that our favourite OS prospers.
I still study in school, and do not have much money. but I'll make a donation to Slackware after I make money from my first programming job.
It will worth remembering and exciting.

I hear you, I have a lot of bills myself. You can make a smaller donation to Slackware using paypal (you decide how much you want to donate). All donations will support Slackware.

Thanks for the heads up and thanks to hitest for the Donate link.
I've been wanting to donate for some time but don't want any material goods and don't like to give money to PayPal (they are so expensive). Buying a "Donation to the Slackware Project" using VISA was the perfect solution.
Is there a way to donate without a paypal account or a credit card?
I have neither and do not really want to get them just to donate to Slackware. Can I just transfer the money to a 'Slackware bank account'?
