Looking for an example of slackware config for OVH dedicated server with persistent static route
Good Day,
I have an OVH dedicated server with Proxmox as dedicated server. I installed a VM (KVM), then installed slackware 14. Now I've installed hundreds of slackware servers in KVM but I can't get networking working on OVH. Very frustrating.
Hoping someone out there might have experience in doing this and can provide an example.
thanks

Well, I figured out that the routing table was not being saved on reboot. I've looked at quite a few postings on internet about the subject but have yet to find a solution I like. It would be great if it could be done in 'rc.inet1.conf'.
I know some years ago Alien Bob posted something about the subject but I have not been able to find it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

If it's just something that needs a command to be run during shutdown, you can create the file /etc/rc.d/rc.local_shutdown, add in your command, then make sure it is executable. This will cause Slackware to run that command during the shutdown process, hopefully solving whatever issue you're having.
@kjhambrick, I believe it is an online dedicated server host that allows you to use your own OS.
@kjhambrick: sorry my reply did not post. They are a hosting provider that provides unmanged offerings. I use their dedicated server offering with proxmox and slackware. Great prices but little support. They use a failover ip template that is not the norm so it took me a while to figure out how to make it work.
@bassmadrigal: thanks for the reply. OVH makes you use a gw address that is outside of your ip block. So creating the routing with 'route add' commands it works. The problem is when I reboot the server the routing table is gone.

Does the routing table change? If not, you can throw the route add command in /etc/rc.d/rc.local, and it'll be run at the end of all the startup scripts. Or maybe specify a gateway address in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf under the GATEWAY variable.
