Red face Logitech Mx 1000 Mouse Won't Work

I recently installed Slackware, and its great, but my mouse doesn't work. I have tried configuring xorg.conf with settings I have found in google, but none of them are working. With the following settings the mouse will only detect vertical movement no horizontal movement.

Section "InputDevice"
Indentifer "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
EndSection

I have all other settings,resolution,buttons,etc.. commented off. If anyone can tell me what im doing wrong that would be great. Thanks for your help.

I believe it should be:
Code:
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
If that doesn't work:

Have you tried it on another computer or with Windows to verify the mouse itself isn't faulty?

if so, you could try commenting out
Code:
Protocol "IMPS/2"
and replace it with
Code:
Option "Protocol" "Auto"

Sorry that was a typo. It is Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2". The mouse does work I have used it with Mandrake and Windows without a problem. Option "Protocol" "Auto" doesn't work. Thanks for your help though, any other ideas?
