loadlin error

Does any one know what this error message means: "Probing EDD (edd=off to disable)....ok" ?
I'm getting this error when I bootup using loadlin.exe to start the linux 2.6.28.8 kernels. What happens is that loadlin starts the kernel, I see the dotted lines running across the screen, the error message pops up and then immediately starts to reboot. This does'nt happen with an older kernel such as 2.6.24.5, which I have to resort to if I want to use Linux at all, but I can't do very much with it (no modules).
I even tried to pass the "edd=off" to loadlin, but it did'nt work.

Any suggestions?

Anyone..........?

Anyone..........?

Thanks

To quote another post-

"as you can see 'ok' , then this is no edd problem
it would have been an edd problem if you could only see
the message before 'ok'. "

Are there any other messages AFTER the 'edd ok' message?

There are no other messages that I can see. As I stated in my original post, the message pops up and then it reboots. Does this message have anything to do with not being able to run the new kernels? What is EDD anyway? Can I work around this?

Thanks for your response.
