libasound_module_ctl_empty.so - the phantom DLL

After today's upgrades I get:
Quote:
[AO_ALSA] alsa-lib: dlmisc.c:226snd_dlsym_verify) unable to verify version for symbol snd_func_private_integer
[AO_ALSA] alsa-lib: conf.c:4733_snd_config_evaluate) symbol snd_func_private_integer is not defined inside (null)
[AO_ALSA] alsa-lib: conf.c:5233snd_config_expand) Evaluate error: No such device or address
[AO_ALSA] alsa-lib: conf.c:3917snd_config_hook_load) Unable to expand filenames in the pre-load section
[AO_ALSA] alsa-lib: conf.c:3739snd_config_hooks_call) function snd_config_hook_load_for_all_cards returned error: No such device or address

[AO_ALSA] alsa-lib: control.c:1360snd_ctl_open_conf) Invalid type for CTL default definition
[AO_ALSA] Mixer attach default error: Invalid argument
[AO_ALSA] alsa-lib: dlmisc.c:339snd_dlobj_cache_get0) Cannot open shared library libasound_module_ctl_empty.so (/usr/lib64/alsa-lib/libasound_module_ctl_empty.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
when I run mplayer. I can't find libasound_module_ctl_empty.so in any package. ldd reports no relevant unfound dependencies. mplayer works. A search of the Internet turns up no hits for libasound_module_ctl_empty.so .

Following from this thread, try doing:
Code:
slackpkg reinstall alsa
Just "alsa-lib" might be enough, but wouldn't hurt to reinstall it all.

I'm not the OP, but came here because my sound was broken after the last update. This fixed it for me. Thanks!
