LDAP authentication in Slackware 15?

Hi,

I am trying to introduce centralized logins without Active Directory.

I have a working OpenLDAP Server, now I am trying to authenticate clients against it. Has anyone a working setup for Slackware clients? Most stuff I find via Google is very old. I believe things have changed since the introduction of PAM in Slackware. Tutorials for other distributions are probably not matching Slacware.

Or is this a bad idea? Or is OpenLDAP a bad Idea for this at all?

Ben

I was hoping that someone would be able to give you a better answer than me who hasn't used LDAP for logins.

However, even though I haven't used LDAP for that purpose I have used NIS during the years and can say that there has not been any need to change anything in the NIS clients because of the introduction of PAM in Slackware.

regards Henrik

Did you find a working solution on this? I'm trying the same solution using a mixed client environment based on Slackware 14.2 and 15 but I'm struggling find useful resource to implement a proper OpenLDAP server (that can't be stictly slack-based). It could be nice implement PAM features too but I assume it could be possible only on Slack15+ versions.

Cheers,
Marco
