On a fresh install of slackware 12.1 on my laptop, playing around with acpi and KLaptopDaemon I hit this:
Quote:
The /usr/bin/klaptop_acpi_helper application does not seem to have the same size or checksum as when it was compiled we do NOT recommend you proceed with making it setuid-root without further investigation
|
after selecting 'Setup Helper Application' in the ACPI Config tab. I don't believe the appication was maliciously modified (md5sum of the install dvd was correct) but does anybody else encounter this message?
Also, a quick google shows that the 'solution' to this problem is to disable the check in source and recompiling the package. I believe this gives a false sense of security, so does anyone have an idea/suggestion which leads to a real solution?
