shouldn't that be /boot/vmlinuz?
I'm confused by your earlier posts, vmlinuz and bzImage are the same thing (different names, same file).

Anytime you build a new kernel, even if it's a recompilation of an already installed kernel, you need to rerun /sbin/lilo.

then edit your /etc/lilo.conf file.
lile in the linux section is : image=<make-sure-it's-the-filename>

after that run lilo...

/vmlinuz is not the same as /boot/vmlinuz
Where are you pointing your file in lilo.conf?
Try doing a: ls -l
Maybe vmlinuz is a symlink to a kernel that was removed?
