howdy folks ... as title says ... nice kernel panic trying to use generic, btw I have like 10 entries on grub(managed by my first distro) how to deal it ?
I had the same error and I didn't use grub I think it was lilo mbr when I install Zenwalk 8.0 so I gave up. I still have the USB I install it on. Can anyone help me how to fix it and I use the choice it gave me when I install it? One thing my Laptop boot from BIOS. Another thing I took out the Hard Drive so it only seen the USB and the DVD I use to install it.
fellow ... can I try live and wouldn't problem with generic kernel ???
It uses the generic kernel by default. It is certainly an easy way to try out Slackware.

You need to give people time to answer. People can't always be on here. They have work, sleep, social events, meals, etc. Plus, you have people from all over the world on different schedules.
There's a script ([url=http://docs.slackware.com/slackware:liveslak#scripts_and_tools]setup2hd) included on the live version that allows you to install it to the hd.
I'd try to help with your problem here, but I have never used grub (since lilo works perfectly on all my systems), so I have no idea how to help with your issue.
The stuff in /etc/grub.d is used by grub-mkconfig.
I've been using this to create my grub configuration for slackware: 09_slackware_linux.txt
Drop it into /etc/grub.d, remove the .txt extension, make it executable and run
Code:
grub-mkconfig
is a waste of time !
DO NOT serve !!
