Unhappy kernel 2.6 - missing includes

hi ^^
I'm having some problems compiling the 2.6 kernel...
I've removed all 2.4.23 related slack packages, deleted the linux* dirs in /usr/src, extracted the sources to /usr/src/linux-2.6.0 and made a symlink linux -> linux-2.6.0.
then I did a make mrproper and tried to do make menuconfig, which produced the following errors:
Code:
bash-2.05b# make menuconfig
  HOSTCC scripts/fixdep
In file included from /usr/include/bits/posix1_lim.h:126,
                 from /usr/include/limits.h:144,

bash-2.05b#
can somebody please help me ? =[

hmm....should be the right one ?
could It have something to do with the fact that I removed the 2.4.23 kernel headers package ?
or do I have to make some symlinks around for the header files ? ='(
