KDE standard on start


When I start slackware it automatical boots X. But Slackware is booting Gnome and I want KDE to be standard...

How do I do this

You can do this by editing the /etc/rc.d/rc.4 script and either commenting out "#" the Gnome lines, or just making sure the KDE lines come first.

You mean you want the KDE login manager? If that's the case, open up /etc/rc.d/rc.4 in your favorite editor, and comment out the lines for GDM. It will revert to KDM. In case you didn't know, "#" in front of a line means it is to be ignored.

You can also change the link in /etc/X11/xinit to point to the window manager of your choice.

Unlink the old one like this: unlink xinitrc
Then link to the one you want like this: ln -s xinitrc.kde xinitrc
