Some things listed probably don't have any bearing on this issue. I don't know if I need to set something up or what. I do know that something needs adjusted, installed or just ain't right.
I followed the installation instructions for compiling alsa, and after the 1st step... './configure --with-cards=cs4630 --with-sequencer=yes;make;make install' , I got errors at the last part. I didn't copy them, but I think it was error-1.
I don't know what's going on with this slack-box, but something isn't working the way it should.
I don't know what to do next, but one thing I do know is I'm frustrated as h*ll!
I reinstalled slack-9, doing a full-install. After configuring everything-fonts, printing, alsa, security, user permission to mount CD, and all the slack-current updates, I compiled k3b from source, using checkinstall, successfully!
When I reinstalled, I didn't format my /home partition... preserved my personal settings.
I stress to all newb's to do a "full" install and later you can uninstall un-needed programs.
