Hello!
I am running Slackware 12.0 with kernel 2.6.21.5-smp and k3b-1.0.2
Whenever I attempt to write an audio cd and press burn in the k3b audio cd dialogue, it says:
IO Error. Most likely no space left on harddisk.
Removing temporary files.
If I chose the option "create image", k3b complains about not being able to write to /tmp/k3b-marto. My user (marto) is a member of the cdrom, burning and root groups. The ownership and permissions of /tmp are
ls -dl /tmp
drwxrwxrwt 10 root root 376 2008-01-23 13:32 /tmp/
Some more info that might be relevant:
ls -l /dev/hdc (this is my cd/dvd writer)
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 22, 0 2008-01-23 11:31 /dev/hdc
However, running k3b as root makes audio cds without problems.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Regards, Martin.
have you added yourself to the cdrom group? also chmod 666 /dev/hdc (or cdrom/dvd) - this will allow anyone to use the drive to make discs, the other thing you can do is Use K3bSetup and add the group you are in to the allowed groups to burn

Yes, these are the groups I aam a member of :
marto@marto:~$ groups
root floppy audio video cdrom plugdev nut burning
I have run k3bsetup and I have told it to use burning group burning. That was necessary so that I could write data cds as normal user. The problem now is with audio cds. Probably I should tell it to use burning group audio?
Hrrm, that's odd. Is there a /tmp/k3b-marto currently? If so, do you have write permissions to it?
No currently there is no such a directory, because I have added a line to rc.6 which deletes everything /tmp at every reboot . Oddest of all, when if I choose to make an image when writing to a dvd, then k3b asks me wheteher to create /tmp/k3b-marto, I say "yes" and then everything flows normally ... I do suspect this is something alike the weird necessity to create the "burning" group so that I could make data CDs, although I was able to make data DVDs without that group ...

seeing as you are in the group cdrom tell it to use that for burning discs.
i normaly make the user carpo and group phoenix, which i make the burning group, and i have no issues
