Now, this could just be that it's spending a while looking for an IP that it won't find (since I don't have a wireless setup at my house...just at cafes)...but once I loaded the firmware and drivers from ipw2200.sourceforge.net I had problems. Turns out, my firmware directory wasn't correctly specified under /etc/hotplug/firmware.agent. When I fixed this, it seems as if it loaded the firmware, but after about 2 seconds of showing the console login, the system hangs. Any ideas? (I fixed it by redirecting the firmware directory somewhere incorrect, so that I could get into/use my system). Thanks ahead!

2.6.11.11 Kernel w/ Slackware Current and Dropline-Gnome Current, Intel 2915 device
Ok, I'm at my dad's house and he has a wireless network. It still locks up when loading the firmware. I tried just loading the firmware by "modprobe ipw2200" while I was in X, and it locked as well. I then tried using the 1.03 drivers and firmware and 'same problem. Any ideas? Thanks ahead!
Use 1.02 drivers and 2.2 firmware from ipw2200.sourceforge.net (1.03 and 1.04 weren't compatible -- Slackware Current w/ 2.6.11.11 on Dell Inspiron 600m).
Then, to actually get a connection (for me anyways):
Edit /etc/rc.d/rc.wireless.conf
and add all of your info (ESSID,etc) so that it loads at startup.
Then, to top it off, edit /etc/modprobe.conf and put:
alias ethx ipw2200
where 'x' = the # your wireless is on (eth0 for me).
