Invalid PBLK length?

Hi,

I have a new build server for my Slackware-based MLED & MLES projects. It's an HP Elite 8100 i7 workstation generously donated to me by a french company.

I've installed a multiboot with no less than ten different installations of Slackware (14.0, 14.2, -current, 32-bit & 64-bit, etc.). So far the machine is running nicely, but I wonder about the startup error message I get on each one of the systems.

Code:
ACPI: Invalid PBLK length
ACPI: Invalid PBLK length
ACPI: Invalid PBLK length
ACPI: Invalid PBLK length
ACPI: Invalid PBLK length
ACPI: Invalid PBLK length
ACPI: Invalid PBLK length
ACPI: Invalid PBLK length
This happens quite early in the boot process, with one error message per processor core. I googled this, but only found one inconclusive thread on bugs.redhat.com.

Any idea what this is, and if I should be worried?

Cheers,

Niki

Apparently this is the result of a BIOS not implementing the ACPI specification correctly.
And perhaps you can cure that by compiling a DSDT for your computer and loading that as part of your initrd: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-...start-250.html

Also apparently, the result of the error could be that your computer will not completely shutdown and you'll have to use the powerswitch eventually: http://superuser.com/questions/19106...ng-debian-boot
