Intel ICH5 Soundcard help


Hi, I got a new computer and I went to go install Slackware 9.1 on my new system the problem I have is Alsa appears to be working but I have no sound at all I turned the volume all the up way up and still nothing can someone please help?

as root type alsamixer. unmute your speakers. then hit escape and type alsactl store.

I downloaded the lastest ALSA drivers and ran alsaconf it blew up in my face then i did it again and it works ..lol I wanna know why or how I'm just happy it works ..lol thanks anyways
