Question Installing .gz kernel modules (how do I...)

I looked under /lib/modules/`uname -r`/pcmcia to find kernel modules to set up my pcmcia network card. My 3com 589 adapter has drivers in that folder, but they are stored in .gz format. How would I go about installing these?

If they are in the modules tree, you should be able to just "modprobe <driver>".

You could also look in /etc/rc.d/rcmodules
If it's in there, just uncomment the line for your card.

Neither of your solutions worked. I have tryed un-gzing it with gzip and bzip2, but had no luck.

Don't unzip them and use modprobe <name> (without the extention)
Ie: if you've a module called foo.o.gz then call: modprobe foo
